The 1985 Scanlens VFL set featured a green card with a gold trim. The design was a completely new look with a shield frame enveloping the players’ photo. 132 cards completed the set, comprising the 12 teams in the league. These were the first footy cards I ever bought and can still remember my parents pulling over at a milk bar on the way to a function and my dad buying me 2 packs to keep me quiet for the rest of the trip. The set features the rookie cards of Tony Lockett and Greg Williams, both with teams they didn’t finish their careers with.
