PALs periodicals was a storypaper in the 1920s, showcasing Australian juvenile fiction for both boys and girls alike. In 1924, they included a supplement in each issue, being a card of an iconic sportsman from the time. Twenty-seven are known to exist including 15 footy players. One of the sporting personalities is cricket legend Bill Ponsford, a card which is now seen as his rookie card. Fitzroy champion goalkicker Jack Moriarty also has his rookie card in the PALs set.
