The 1907-08 Sniders and Abrahams set, known as Series D of the Standard Cigarettes football cards, changed the design again. Instead of the three-quarter length portraits of the previous two seasons, players are shown in head-and-shoulders portraits. The 56 cards cover all eight VFL clubs of the time. For Collingwood collectors, this is the key set of the era: it includes the much sought-after rookie cards of two club legends, Jock McHale and Dick Lee. There are two versions of the back. The more common version has a row of circles with no lines around it. On the scarcer variation, the row of circles has a horizontal line above and below it. Check the reverse carefully, because the lined back is a lot harder to find.
