Macrobertsons Champions 1934

1934 Macrobertsons 1/2d Champions

Collection: 17 cards
Scarcity rating: 7
In 1880, David Robertson started manufacturing sugar confectionery in an improvised boiler in the family home in Fitzroy. In 1934, his company Macrobertsons inserted sports cards into their chocolate products. There was both a Sports Champions and VFL release. The Champions release featured many different sports but only 17 cards of footballers. They footy cards were incrementally numbered from 55 to 72 and actually included 2 VFA players. Differently from the 1/2d Footballers set, they had both action shots and portrait shots of the players with a white border.
