The 1966 Scanlens VFL set was made up of players from both the VFL and WAFL, with 20 different teams represented. A pennant down the bottom showcased the club name with the players name and other information underneath on a white strip. The back of the cards feature jigsaw pieces which made up an aerial photo of the previous years’ Grand Final. This initiative became a regular part of the Scanlens releases and was very popular among collectors. The release also included 14 special die-cut cards of certain players. They were identical to the regular cards (including the same number) but the photo of the player had been “cut” so it could be popped out.
