Scanlens 1972
Scanlens 1972 Football Cards
Collection: 66 cards
Scarcity rating: 4
In 1971, Scanlens did not release a football card set, but instead opted for 24 large posters instead. In 1972, they returned to producing cards, with a release incredibly similar to 1970. The only way to tell them apart at first glance is the presence of the VFL logo in one of the top corners in 1972. The backs of the cards were jigsaw pieces, making up a black and white photo of the 1971 Grand Final. Some of the most popular cards in the set are the rookie cards of Richmond’s Kevin Bartlett and Fitzroy’s Bernie Quinlan, along with card #1, Len Thompson which may have been damaged in production as less of his cards seem to be in circulation.
