For the only time during their card making career, Scanlens produced their 1973 VFL set with orange as the primary colour. The overall design was similar to the previous 2 releases and 72 player cards made up the set. However, each card had 2 versions, and was labelled either Series A or Series B. The only other difference being the back of the card, which had one of 2 jigsaw images. As they were all released together, most collectors consider 1973 just to be one set, and don’t put much weight on whether the card is from Series 1 or Series 2. 1973 also contains the rookie card of Leigh Matthews, considered one of the most highly prized Scanlens cards outside of the first 3 releases in the 60s. 12 stickers of the Team Mascots were also part of the 1973 release.
