The 1906-07 Sniders and Abrahams set keeps the three-quarter length portrait style introduced the previous season, and the two years look very similar at first glance. Many of the player portraits were reused unchanged from the 1905-06 cards. Two club guernseys did change: most Essendon players now wear a high-necked jumper, and South Melbourne swapped its hoops for vertical stripes. The biggest change is on the back. The ornate, illustrated Standard Cigarettes advertisement of the earlier series gave way to a mainly text-based design that lists the player’s name, his playing position and how long he had been with his club. That extra detail makes these backs useful for identifying players today. The Victorian League set has 56 cards, and a 20-card Victorian Country set was issued the same season.
